GENERAL INFORMATION

Join AKA CIC for a weekend in the Scottish Highlands as we climb Ben Nevis (1,345 m), the UK’s highest mountain. We’re also delighted to be collaborating with Helly Hansen, who are supplying a free performance T‑shirt for every participant. Led by qualified Mountain Leaders and supported by AKA staff, you’ll share the trail with our friendly and welcoming AKA community. A professional photographer/videographer will capture the walk, so they’ll be plenty of high‑quality group photos and event highlights.

Where your money goes

All ticket income and the money you raise will support AKA’s community projects — including youth clubs, free bike rides, and local hikes — helping us keep positive opportunities open to our community.

Walk details

• Hike date: Saturday 28 June 2025
• Route: Mountain Track (Tourist Route)
• Distance / ascent: 17 km round‑trip | 1,345 m ascent
• Difficulty: Challenging but non‑technical—suitable for anyone with moderate fitness and determination
• Timing: Meet 08:30, hike begins 09:00, finish 16:00–18:00 (approx.)
• Meeting point: Ben Nevis Visitor Centre car park

Kit list (Overview)

Sturdy walking boots, waterproofs, warm layers, a 30 L rucksack, and food and water for the day. We have a small supply of spare kit available to borrow (on a first come first served basis). A full kit list will be emailed after sign-up.

TICKET OPTIONS

1. Hike‑Only Ticket

• Price: £50
• Minimum fund‑raising target: £100
• Includes: Everything listed in “What every ticket includes”. You arrange your own travel and, overnight accommodation.
• Meeting Point: Please arrive at the Ben Nevis Visitor Centre car park by 08:30 on Saturday 28 June.

2. Travel + Loch Ness Accommodation + Hike Package

Price: £150

Minimum fund‑raising target: £200

Includes:

• Return transport from Nottingham to Ben Nevis.
• Two‑night stay (Friday and Saturday) in shared rooms at Loch Ness Bunk Inn (mixed‑gender dorms if required).
• Friday evening briefing, Saturday hike, and a short Loch Ness viewpoint stop on Sunday before departure.
• Everything in the Hike‑Only ticket.
• The Loch Ness Bunk Inn has an on‑site restaurant. There are local takeaways and supermarkets nearby for additional meal options.

REGISTRATION

After purchasing your ticket you will receive your registration form. This must be completed within 7 days of booking (or immediately if booking after 14 June). Please note without a completed registration form you will not be able to attend. The form collects emergency contact details, relevant medical information, and any kit‑loan requests so we can keep everyone safe on the hill.

IMPORTANT NOTES

• Ages 18 + (16–17‑year‑olds welcome if accompanied by a participating parent or guardian).
• Shared rooms, possibly mixed; meals are not included.
• Tickets are non‑refundable.
• Fund‑raising targets must be met by 14 June 2025.
• Eventbrite fees are covered in the ticket price—no added costs at checkout.
