Peak District Walk – Cracken Edge & Mount Famine

Join Our Community Walk in the Beautiful Peak District National Park! 🌳

We’re thrilled to invite you to our February walk in the stunning Peak District National Park. Our aim is to bring people closer to the outdoors, rekindle that connection with nature, and foster a sense of community through shared adventures.

Event Details:

📅 Date: 25th February 2024

🕒 Time: 09:00 AM – Meeting at Phoenix Park, Park & Ride, Nottingham NG8 6AS. (For your convenience, just click the address for a Google Maps link)


🌄 Meet there – 11:00 AM at Chinley Train Station, 16 Station Rd, High Peak SK23 6AY. This is a small station so parking is limited and is free. There is street parking nearby also. (For your convenience, just click the address for a Google Maps link)

The Route: Explore Cracken Edge and Mount Famine on a 7-mile hike featuring some steep sections. With 500 meters of ascent and descent, this route may not be the most frequented, but those who tackle it are treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and a sweeping vista of Kinder. This walk is not recommended for young children and can be rugged and muddy in certain areas.

What to Expect:

A warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for hikers of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or just starting out, you’ll find a friendly community here.

Kit Pool and Support:

Worried about missing gear? Worry not! Our kit pool has you covered with spare items like walking boots, waterproofs, rucksacks, and trekking poles. If you need assistance, simply reach out to us via email or Instagram, and we’ll do our utmost to help you gear up for the hike.

Suggested Kit List:

– Medication as needed (inhaler, insulin, etc.)
– Suitable footwear for walking (boots or trainers)
– Rucksack/backpack
– Warm layered clothing
– Woolly hat, scarf, gloves/sun hat, sun cream
– Packed lunch and snacks
– Stay hydrated with water!
– Spare plastic bag for rubbish or wet/muddy boots
– Some change for parking

Nice to Have:

– Extra pair of socks and comfy trainers
– Waterproof jacket
– Waterproof over trousers
– A small towel for convenience
