Peak District Walk – Thor’s Cave

Join Our Community Walk in the Beautiful Peak District National Park! 🌳

We’re thrilled to invite you to our June walk in the stunning Peak District National Park. Our aim is to bring people closer to the outdoors, rekindle that connection with nature, and foster a sense of community through shared adventures.

Event Details:

📅 Date: Sunday 30th June 2024

🕒 Time: 09:00 AM – Meeting at Phoenix Park, Park & Ride, Nottingham NG8 6AS. (For your convenience, just click the address for a Google Maps link)


🌄 Meet there – 10:30 AM at Wetton Car Park, 36 Carr Ln, Wetton, Ashbourne DE6 2AF. (For your convenience, just click the address for a Google Maps link). It is free to park in this car park but spaces are very limited. Toilets are also available.

The Route:
This month’s walk features a scenic 3.5-mile route to Thor’s Cave from Wetton, timed perfectly so we can return for the England game. Thor’s Cave, set within a steep limestone crag, offers a stunning natural cavern with a large and easily visible arched entrance. Join us for an enjoyable walk in this remarkable landscape.

A warm and welcoming atmosphere, perfect for hikers of all levels. Whether you’re a seasoned trekker or just starting out, you’ll find a friendly community here.

Kit Pool and Support:

Worried about missing gear? Worry not! Our kit pool has you covered with spare items like walking boots, waterproofs, rucksacks, and trekking poles. If you need assistance, simply reach out to us via email or Instagram, and we’ll do our utmost to help you gear up for the hike.

How to Register:

Suggested Kit List:

– Medication as needed (inhaler, insulin, etc.)
– Suitable footwear for walking (boots or trainers)
– Rucksack/backpack
– Warm layered clothing
– Woolly hat, scarf, gloves/sun hat, sun cream
– Packed lunch and snacks
– Stay hydrated with water!
– Spare plastic bag for rubbish or wet/muddy boots
– Some change for parking

Nice to Have:

– Extra pair of socks and comfy trainers
– Waterproof jacket
– Waterproof over trousers
– A small towel for convenience
